....... 20 Juillet - 1 Aout • 20 July - 1 August .......
It's that time of the year again to kick back and absorbed some much needed Vitamin D and jump off the grid for a bit. As for me, I like taking a bit of time of here and there, not the entire 4-5 weeks of straight vegetation like most French people do – unbeknownst to me the extent of seriousness they take it!
Tomorrow will be your last day to order anything and potentially have it sent of before my return on the 1st of August, unless it's bespoke to which then you'll have to wait.
Here are some new pieces I'd made ready-to-ship online.
See you when I return! Stay fresh.
Here are all three of the exhibitions I'm participating in this Summer!
A little info about the pieces my Gallerist are hosting:
GREEN:
A group exhibition standing at Ickx Contemporary Jewelry based in Brussels, Belgium, has most of my 'Sticky Business' minimalist one-off pieces
LOVE JEWELS:
Curated by Smitten Collective, will be exposing my 'Naughty Bits' collection (by my evil twin Rokxia) in Hasselt, Belgium also. A group 13 International Art Jewelers who's work falls under the same theme come together just for this event.
Lastly...
L’ÉPHéMèRE:
A boutiques de créateurs run by Cyril Besson has a handful of my best selling pieces from Minicyn – they're based in South of France, Toulon. The intimate event composes of a handful of French movers and shakers.
Vive les bijoux!
It's been a while yes I know.
Since the last post I'd delivered 3 packages with lots of goodies for 3 different galleries, two in Belgium and one in Toulon, South of France. Not to mention jetting off in between to Milos, Greece with my yoga buddies for some much needed time-out.
Below are just a few pieces from the week! Mixing Oxidised Silver with gold and Silver & gold-plated etc.
Take care under this intense heat x
Je participerai officiellement aux Journées européennes des métiers d'art - JEMA 2018. Vous trouverez Minicyn a l'expo vente Hôtel Bohême le week-end de 6-7 April.
à très bientôt
In the past few weeks I've been tinkering away with an unused electric tool that's been tucked away for at least 3 years to date. It allowed me to create this Indulgent of a ring. It feels somewhat courageous and daring in many ways; artistically, spiritually & perhaps even spatially... liken to some sort of artistic "coming-out". It was fun! And I hope to prolong this journey in 2018.
If you're heading to Brussels between beginning of March and end of July don't forget to checkout one 2 of my new collection at ICKX Contemporary Jewelry. A collective exhibition inspired by nature 'Green' emerging in figurative and abstract form...only way to learn more is to find out in person!

Support independent artists and publishing houses, why? Because without them the world will be as boring as white bread.
The specially invited guests:
• Charming Parisian-Japanese ceramic artist Madoka Rindal and her handbuilt limited edition pieces.
• Chose Commune – an independent French publishing house devoted to photography books. Behind this is a powerhouse couple!
I love these people.
Hope to see you at my atelier !
Most of us at some point in our lives have taken home pebbles or broken bits of slate rocks as souvenirs from the beach. The weight of them makes it so desirable to have them in your hands, to at some point either throw them back into the water or to take home. I for one am guilty of that each and every time.
This small collection is an ode to that human gesture/desire that makes us who we are, curious creatures.
L'expo-vente '200 Bagues / 20 Créateurs' est le rendez-vous des créateurs et des amoureux de bijoux contemporains. A while back, I was given a pair of solid Mother of Pearl(MOP) Salad servers by a lovely client. They were both broken in parts that enabled further use from its original purpose. Being familiar with my previous MOP line she gave me permission to repurpose these magnificently thick MOP parts into jewellery. Between a long period of pondering in & out of what justice I could do with them and my recent visit to an exhibition at Galerie La Joaillerie pa Mazlo call 'Holy Tools' a light-bulb went off! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am for these to be finally reunited with their initial objective as tools AND be given an additional new life as art jewellery.
Two have been born from them thus far, one as a comb and the other a paper knife. The further left chunky piece is yet to be transformed.

Minicyn is taking a bit of time off. See you back on the 2nd of September :)
One of the many things that stood out like a sore thumb for me as a non-European living in Paris is how seriously the French take their holidays. Concordant to popular belief multiply by 100, it is still beyond words even after 8 years. I would liken it to a calm before a storm so to speak and it makes me laugh a little each time how sudden the evacuation can be. The streets are so empty you can hear a pigeon drop its poop, 9out of 10 shops are closed, services are mostly out for the whole complete month, the 'Punk à Chien' aka 'Ferals' are out from the woods, thieves are on the loose, break-ins are as popular as Deliveroo. There ain't no such thing as shift work no part-timers taking over, NADA. We're lucky that this social/historical construct does not affect me directly nor am I obligated to take my kids away. Hence, it's play time for us Minicyn and Devocite, where we put our heads down and focus on our personal projects. Here are just a few new unique pieces in the shop though I haven't forgotten. Enjoy.
Waste not, want not. One man's rubbish is another man's gold etc. The two most commonly used idioms to simply express that wastes can be useful to another if not to you. It's want I came away with recently from a humble trip in the country side with a tree stump. Perfectly shaped and cut to be used as a workbench for hammering. Yes! :)
You'll find a small series of delicious earrings (and a necklace!) as part of my new 'Stella' capsule collection. The pieces resonate my love for both the old world elegance & clean modern simplicity.
Every piece is 100% handcrafted, from eco-friendly Sterling solid silver & right down to the pieces of Mother of Pearl (MOP & 'Nacre' in French).
The origins of the MOP are of vintage French gaming coins which I'd hand-sawed, carved & polished specifically for this collection – they've been securely riveted onto the silver sheet where you see the dots are. The silver's surface textures are made from real linen cloth, the results echo the tactility of the far away world some of us once knew.
Since the beginning of the year, I've been experimenting with some pieces of Mother of Pearl from my stash of goodies. Learning on how to cut/saw, polish, shape etc the material ('Nacre' in French). It's been a rather messy study though the results have been rewarding. It reverberated in just a small handful of earrings which I'd presented them briefly during my participation in JEMA (please see my previous Blog posts) at my studio.
I happy to say that a few of the designs will be available to purchase in the next few days. The quantity is very limited unfortunately so brace yourselves!
Here are just some which I'll be listing soon. Available in both Silver or oxidised.

I fell in love with these lozenge-like flat Lapis Lazuli cabochons and bought a few to try out last year. It seems interesting to set them as I usually would with my round Moonstone cabochons into ball-like pendants for one of them and the other in its "logical" extended cylindrical self.
Lapis Lazuli is a semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense colour for many ancient cultures. I'd remembered being told at design school that it was not available in Europe until the end of the Middle Ages, where it was ground into powder and made into Ultramarine – the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments for paints! It was used by some of the most important artists of the Renaissance & Baroque often reserved for colouring in the clothing of the central figures of their paintings, especially the Virgin Mary. Let's keep an eye out next time we see her!
Pyrite (metallic yellow) is a mineral often found sprinkled throughout the blue (sodalite). Thus creating a Nuit étoilée / Starry Night indeed.
Here are pictures of the 2 necklaces I've made.
